(Note: recently a video-making humorist has appeared who also is using the name Goodspaceguy.)

A message from Goodspaceguy Nelson, a candidate for US Representative to Congress from the 7th Congressional District of Washington State.

Some Solutions and Programs of Goodspaceguy:

Goodspaceguy likes to refer to our Earth as Spaceship Earth, a spaceship built by the science and by the technology of Mother Nature. (God?)

Let's solve world problems from the viewpoint that we are the crew and passengers of Spaceship Earth.

Some centuries have greatness in them. In about the last hundred years, we Earthlings developed cars, radios, airplanes, movies, television, and computers. We moved from the Horse and Buggy Age into the Automobile Age and into the Airplane Age and into the Computer Age and into the baby stage of the Space Age. Now a great goal for this new 21st Century is to start the Age of Orbital Space Colonization! We have already spent the necessary money for orbital space colonization, but unfortunately our leaders were not educated in orbital space colonization and so wasted billions and billions of dollars of space money and resources. Goodspaceguy wants to redirect our space dollars into orbital space colonization.

About 400 million years ago, life from the seas of Earth came up and colonized the land of Earth.
Now, the colonization of orbital space by life from Earth is of similar significance.

Goodspaceguy worries about nuclear war and the coming of the next killer asteroid and therefore wants us to spread life from Earth out into our solar system as quickly as possible. Instead of bringing most of the material up from Earth for the colonization, Goodspaceguy wants us to use a lot of material from the near Earth asteroids and comets to help build the coming orbital space colonies. Let's follow the low-cost path to the Fantastic Future.

Goodspaceguy Nelson has studied economics and many of the methods for raising the living standard and improving the quality-of-life.

So that we can live longer and healthier, Goodspaceguy Nelson wants more people working in medical research, rejuvenation research, and longevity research. Let's continue the great advances of the Twentieth Century into our new Twenty-first Century.

Some Earthlings have been suffering from the misery caused by the human population explosion. The population explosion is the cause of many problems on Spaceship Earth (such as overcrowding in some nations and starvation and genocide and the wiping out of wild habitats and their creatures.)

Also, the population explosion has helped drive up the price of gas and has been helping to increase the illegal immigration into the Seattle area.

Spaceship Earth now has to support more than three people for every one person she supported a hundred years ago, and the population on Spaceship Earth continues to grow and grow. The growing overpopulation problems will probably grow worse. More people might notice.

Brain storming: Would head taxes on Spaceship Earth be a much more pleasant partial solution to overpopulation than the old, cruel methods of population control, such as starvation, disease, murder, and war? To stop and reverse the population explosion, should birth permits be sold to slow the number of people coming onto Spaceship Earth?

Starting with the homeless, let us make life better through employment for all people who can be coaxed into the work force. We should increase employment in the private sector, and we should make government the back-up employer of "helpers" who apply for minimum wage employment. Our government should back its minimum wage with jobs for helpers. "Helpers would assist in all areas of government.

The employment of all willing people should help reduce crime and should help raise our living standard. Idleness promotes crime and poverty, but work produces the skills and knowledge and goods and services that make up our living standard.

Unemployment is a tremendous waste! Labor builds the living standard.

Because some workers want more leisure, government should lead by creating part-time employment programs, such as three day and four day work-week options.

To glorify the Seattle area, we should try to make it easier to grow the movie-making industry in the Seattle area by cooperating with moviemakers.

To reduce traffic congestion on Spaceship Earth, let us abolish government restrictions on the height of buildings so that we can live closer to where we want to be and walk more, and let's become more ecologically friendly by making it easier and less costly to build high-rise condominiums and apartments. Let us build better sky-dwellings than the people of Vancouver Canada have built. Let us increase the housing supply to slow the upward movement of rents.

To increase the quality of life and reduce the stress level, let us ask government to increase free and easy parking. If you pay a lot of gas tax, you deserve more free parking. Parking should be considered part of the road system.

Let us make it easier for people to obtain knowledge by increasing the open hours of libraries and by increasing the use of colleges, which are underutilized in the evenings and on the weekends. Let us also promote part-time work and part-time study.

To lower the cost of medical care, let us allow more people to work and compete in medical care. Also, let our helpers help. Prices are often shaped by wages.

Goodspaceguy Nelson received his Master of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota. Goodspaceguy previously studied for 3 years at Stockholm University in Sweden, having already earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Germany and his high school diploma in Washington State.

Goodspaceguy Nelson is a non-smoker, non-drinker, non-drug user, but as a believer in individual freedom and free will and upward evolution, Goodspaceguy believes that each individual should decide whether or not to engage in habits which are thought to be harmful to oneself. Taxpayers, through their governments, should not incur the wasteful cost of interfering. Goodspaceguy is pro-choice on almost everything.

Goodspaceguy Nelson is able to read several foreign languages and recommends that the principles of economics be taught in our elementary schools and that English be made the governmental language of the federal government and of Washington State.

Because the state of Maryland donated the land of Washington D.C. to the federal government, Goodspaceguy Nelson wants the people of Washington D.C. to vote in federal elections through the state of Maryland. For federal elections, the land of Washington D.C. should again become part of the state of Maryland.

Goodspaceguy Nelson would like beautiful Puerto Rico to become the 51st state.

Goodspaceguy is an astronomer, an economist, an investor, an owner, and an admirer of stars in the sky and in the movies. Goodspaceguy wants more stars in the Seattle area.

Please, help raise the living standard by supporting the small spending candidates and keeping your campaign contributions under $25. Thank you.

Elect Goodspaceguy Nelson, 10219 Ninth Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98168

(Normally, the voters vote for the big spenders of the people's money and ignore the small spenders, such as Goodspaceguy. Then after electing the big spenders, some of the voters complain about the tax burden that their elected officials force them to carry.)

Contact Info: Email: goodspaceguy@yahoo.com or telephone 206-390-0373
To learn more about Goodspaceguy's solutions and programs, please google or yahoo or internet the name Goodspaceguy Nelson or visit his two blogs:

http://colonizespace.blogspot.com/ (This blog concerns improving our Spaceship Earth.)

http://colonizeorbitalspace.blogspot.com/ (This blog concerns Orbital Space Colonization.)

Life in the Colony: Space Sonja and Monorails

Revised: July 26,2008
(Note: I, Goodspaceguy Nelson, wrote this fragment-of-fiction because of an email sent to me by Lyle Zapato of the web site http://zapatopi.net/ )

Life in One of the Earth Orbiting Space Colonies: SPACE SONJA and MONORAILS
By Goodspaceguy

Sonja, high in orbit above the Earth and building her career and wearing a pink dress and matching lipstick, floated quickly into the Central Conversation Room of the Boeing Blue District of the Earth orbiting space colony.

Music followed her. Air propelled, computerized, robotic entertainment equipment on a tow line floated in after her. Sonja glanced at the wall size, digital view screen depicting the large blue and white Earth rotating below.

While her computerized equipment set itself up, Sonja smiled at councilors Dave Duwamish and Goodspaceguy. She said, “Davie dear, I received your communicator call while I was having my very, very effective, rejuvenation treatment, and I’m feeling great, and I want to know what you think?” She twirled in zero gravity for him.

Looking at Sonja’s healthy, young appearance, councilor Dave said, “It is amazing what our advancement in rejuvenation technology has achieved. We who can afford it are regaining our youth.”

Staring at joyous Sonja, Goodspaceguy said, “You are beautiful!”

Dave said, “Sonja, this romantic dork is Goodspaceguy, our newly elected councilor. He is an economist and an investor. We are hoping for a lot from his recommendations and his votes for improving our colony, and I have called you here in celebration of his joining our team.”

Sonja handed a computerized card to Goodspaceguy, “Your staring at me is very noticeable, and I want you to know that I do private songs and dances, but no sex … you understand that I am a state approved, professional tease and actress, and I want to keep my license. I specialize in singing the songs of Cher and imitating her spirit. Cher is my inspiration. I am a great singer and imitative entertainer, and I am willing to accept you as one of my clients.”

“Thank you" Goodspaceguy said. "Are there any political issues you have been thinking about?”

To prove that she had been reading, Sonja asked, “When our Boeing orbiting space colony becomes really, really huge, do you think that our descendants … of both we, the current space colonists, and of the new colonists still to be sent up by Boeing and Microsoft and the other space companies of King County … I mean, do you think they will build space monorails or will they continue to float and glide themselves and their equipment through the zero gravity of space, as we do now?”

Councilor Dave Duwamish answered, “My precious, but high-priced Sonja, I think that our descendants will continue to develop our abundant solar power and manufacturing capability and will experiment with monorails, but to make economic sense, monorails require a lot and lot of people in a really small area.”

Goodspaceguy added, “To be profitable, monorails require a huge number of people who use them regularly and around the clock.”

“Isn’t that what we are building here in this colony?” Sonja asked, as she floated about between councilors Dave Duwamish and Goodspaceguy.

“Sonja might be right,” Dave admitted. “Sonja described what we are building.”

Goodspaceguy said, “Down on Earth, I found the expensive subway under Montreal both exciting and depressing, but I found the expensive monorail of Vancouver Canada uplifting.”

“Unfortunately, down on Earth,” Dave Duwamish said, “American cities are usually of such low population density that there is not a high enough concentration of people to enable the users to pay for the publicly owned transit systems. Privatization and competition might be solutions.”

Goodspaceguy agreed, “Since the government has promoted urban sprawl by way of hight restrictions on buildings, the transit users have been spread out over a huge area of low population density. Therefore the government transit systems turn out to be real money losers. The tax payers end up paying for the loss. To lessen the burden on the tax payers, I wanted the people to build beautiful, high density communities filled with sky homes … better than in Vancouver Canada. I wanted to abolish building height restrictions and high permit fees. I wanted to make it easy to build sky-high condominiums and apartment building. I wanted to decrease housing costs by increasing the supply of housing in the air. To get rid of rush hours, I also wanted to build 24 hour, never-stop, go-go cities in King County.”

“You’re so technologically modern,” said Space Sonja.

Goodspaceguy responded, “True, but up here in the high sky of orbital space, our descendants should exercise their muscles for a long time by walking a lot in the gravity corridors to balance out the time they spend playing, floating, and gliding around in zero gravity.”

Her entertainment equipment having set itself up, Sonja then performed her song and dance and wardrobe change imitation of Cher. Upon completion of her songs, she gave goodby hugs and went on to her next tease call.

Having been hugged by Space Sonja (known throughout the colony) Dave Duwamish and Goodspaceguy went walking for exercise in the connecting corridors among the sky homes. They walked about in the Gravity One Level of the exercise corridors of the Earth orbiting Boeing Assembly Colony.

"So, Goodspaceguy, what did you think of Sonja?"

"I felt like we were really spending time with Cher. I like actors and actresses who imitate great people, and Sonja might be an actress to start the movie making industry up here in orbital space. A poem about Sonja and space monorails just popped into my mind."

As Dave and Goodspaceguy walked the gravity one corridors for exercise, Goodspaceguy composed this poem:

Title:
Monorails, Like Sonja, Can Be Fun!
by Goodspaceguy

Bodaciously beautiful call girls
Are expensively fun like monorails,
But Sonja finds that many would-be riders
Are without sufficient money pails!

The would-be-riders ask, “Oh, who will
Pay for our fun and frenzied riding times?”
Look to the sleeping tax payers. Their pockets
Are filled with dollars and dimes.”

Some taxpayers shout, “Please, please stop.
Our dollars and dimes will not be enough!
Let us avoid frenzied transit monorails,
Paying for transit trips will be too tough.”

Let us build more homes up in our sky,
And continue to walk under our Sun.
We want sky homes near our work, but we agree
That monorails, like Sonja, would be fun!

Bodaciously beautiful call girls
Are expensively fun like monorails,
But Sonja finds that many would-be riders
Are without sufficient money pails!

Dave Duwamish said, “I don’t think Sonja is going to like your poem.”
“But, Dave, I suspected that Sonja would like a poem about her.”
“Yes, but Sonja won’t like this one.”
“Well,” Goodspaceguy agreed, “I admit that the connotations is wrong, so I had better change the poem, but this first version is all I have at this time. Writing good poems is not easy.”

We Should Spin the International Space Station

We Should Spin the International Space Station
by Goodspaceguy
Saturday, September 23, 2006
(This is my message # 24. I have also put more than 20 messages on my other blog at
http://colonizespace.blogspot.com/ )

* We human beings need gravity to maintain a strong bone structure, therefore we should simulate gravity in the International Space Station and in future additional space stations and in future double space ships.

* To simulate gravity, we should slowly spin our International Space Station ... slowly at first. Spinning the space station slowly would allow us to begin experimenting with the provision of different levels of synthetic gravity in our space station.

* We would learn how to build better space stations. We would learn how to re-arrange the different components of the growing, never-finished space stations. We would learn which components need to be strengthened or built stronger in the first place.

* We should start with a slow spin in which we simulate zero gravity near the center of spin and simulated gradually increasing gravity further and further out from the center of spin. For example, at first, we might simulate Lunar gravity in the outer areas of connected habitats of our space station. Then, as we are successful, we should add on additional, connected habitats further out from the center of spin to simulate Martian gravity. Then, as we are successful with simulated Martian gravity, we should add additional, connected habitats even further out from the center of spin to simulate Earth gravity.

* As we connect additional habitats, further and further out from the center of spin of the space station, we should gradually also add to and strengthen the supporting structure of connecting, elevating shafts and stairways, and hallways, and spacelocks that holds the growing space station together.

* The weaker habitats can be kept near the zero-gravity-level center-of-spin, and the stronger habitats can be placed further out from the center-of-spin in the greater gravity circumferences.

* We ca ... to be continued

We Lost Another Space Truck From Orbit

We Lost Another Space Truck From Orbit
by Goodspaceguy
Friday, September 22, 2006
(This is my message #23. I have also put more than twenty messages on my other blog at
http://colonizespace.blogspot.com )

* On Thursday, September 21, 2006, orbital space colonization suffered another blow. The powers-that-be, opposed to orbital space colonization, on purpose, brought the space truck Atlantis down from orbit. They wasted the tax payers' money by bring Atlantis back down to Earth!

* It cost the tax payers a huge amount of money to put the Space shuttle Atlantis up in orbit around the Earth. Instead of Atlantis, they could have put up a really well made space habitat, larger than the Space Shuttle Atlantis. But instead, they put up Atlantis at great expense, and then made the additional mistake of bringing it down again. What a waste!

* Because of the huge cost, people should not go into space for only short periods of time (twelve days in this case.)

* Competition in the private enterprise sector of our economy should be used to create inexpensive return-to-Earth methods for people such as a small braking rocket and ballon or glider or parachute system ... a return system that brings down as little as possible. At over ten thousand dollars a pound to get stuff into orbit, we should want to keep as much trash as possible in orbit for recycling and reuse. Trash and other stuff in orbit is really valuable. We should not continue to destroy it.

* The powers-that-be could have left Space Shuttle Atlantis up in orbit and sold it to private owners. Such a sale by NASA would have significantly advanced orbital space colonization. Atlantis, left in orbit and sold into private ownership, could have been used as a privately owned, orbital space truck, and it could also have been used as a privately owned, orbital space habitat.

* Now we taxpayers have spent the money, but we have neither a space truck nor an additional space habitat in orbit. Our space dollars have been wasted. We could have made some real progress in orbital, space colonization by keeping Atlantis in orbit.

* The space shuttle is the most expensive method we use to put things into orbit. The space shuttle is the most expensive method we use to bring people and things back down again. It is stupid to do things by the more expensive methods. It is wiser to seek and follow the less expensive paths to achievement.

* We should not be bringing things down from orbit. Things are more valuable in orbit.

* We should be keeping people in orbit much longer.

* It was a big, big mistake to shut down our heavy lift Saturn V Rocket System and go to the inferior, expensive space shuttle.

* The powers-that- be continue to violate the principle that whatever is put up into orbit, should stay in orbit.

* The Space Shuttle Atlantis should be modified and put and left in orbit.
* The Space Shuttle Discouvery should be modified and put and left in orbit.
* The Space Shuttle Endeavour should be modified and put and left in orbit.

Principles of Space Colonization

Friday, August 25, 2006 (My message number 22. It can always be added to, made larger, and improved.
* Recycle everything. Advance the technology of recycling.
* Women are needed in the orbiting space colonies.
* Join the individual space habitats together to start a growing space station and then a growing space colony.
* Many space habitats and space stations and orbital space colonies should be spun at a comfortable speed to create an illusion of gravity at a graduation of levels from zero gravity to lunar gravity to Martian gravity to Earth gravity.
* Surround the space habitats with one or more outer layers of enclosing outer habitats to hold layers of water and layers of air for protection from radiation in space. (Picture giant jars within even larger, enclosing jars.)
* Surround the outer space habitats with giant netting for storage and for the prevention of drifting away on space floats.
* Cover the outer hulls of space habits with hooks and handholds.
* At the highest bids, NASA should sell its space habitats to private, corporate, and institutional owners, and use the money proceeds to help finance the launch of more space habitats.
* NASA should use the power of competitive, free enterprise.
* Establish local democracy and the rule of law and order and incentive and protection of private property in the growing space stations and colonies.
* Transform the abundant solar power into electrical power and steam power.
* Mine the near Earth asteroids.
* Mine the near Earth comets.
* Use the laws that protect competitive, free enterprise.
* Use the laws that protect the individual space colonist.

(I plan on adding more principles later.)

I, Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson, am a candidate for the US Senate

Saturday, August 19, 2006 (This is my message #21 on my blog "Colonize Orbital Space." As of this date, I also have posted over 20 messages on my other blog "Our Spaceship Earth." )

On Monday, July 24, 2006, I, Goodspaceguy Nelson, filed as a candidate from Washington State for the United States Senate.

I have two blogs:
http://colonizespace.blogspot.com (This first blog deals with improving Our Spaceship Earth)
http://colonizeorbitalspace.blogspot.com (This second blog deals with getting Earthlings into the coming Orbital Space Colonies before the arrival of the next killer asteroid.)

* I want the orbital space colonization that should have started after President Kennedy and President Johnson got us to the Moon in 1969.
* After establishment of space habitats, I want the privitazation of many of the habitats in the orbital space colonies in order to minimize the huge waste of money found in our current system.
* I want many of the government launched habitats to be sold to the highest bidders: such as to farmers and to other individuals, and to businesses such as movie studios and hotels, and to educational organizations such as universities that want to research and teach people how to live in orbital space. (It's really not that difficult! We are doing it now in the International Space Station, but I know how to do it much better.)
* I want employment for everyone on our Spaceship Earth who is willing to work. We should be balancing the economy with the steady work required to feed, clothe, house, educate, entertain, and raise up all the interested people on our Spaceship Earth.
* Using the head tax and education, I want to stop the population explosion that is causing so many problems on our Spaceship Earth.
* I want us to spread the concept that we on Spaceship Earth are all of the human family that came out of our home continent of Africa long ago, that we are all related, that we are family.
* I want us to spread the concept that our ancestors established cradles of civilization around our Spaceship Earth, and now it is time to expand from the cradle of our Spaceship Earth out into the new high civilization that we and our descendants will build throughout the orbital space of our Solar System.
* I want us to promote world peace using the concept that in this nuclear age, Spaceship Earth has become too, too small for war. We need to spread the rule of law and order around our Spaceship Earth.
* Instead of sending our soldiers, it is better to send our exports to pay for our imports. It does not make sense to bomb our suppliers. It does not make sense to bomb our customers. It does make sense to encourage the development of the local rule of law and order through the local police and courts around our Spaceship Earth.
* The passengers and crews on Spaceship Earth need to learn how to operate their local democracies by trying and trying and trying.
* I want us to defend the freedom and the property and the incentive of each individual so that each individual can become like royalty in the administration of his or her own life and can more easily build to his or her own potential.

Leave The American Space Shuttles in Space!

Leave the American Space Shuttles in Space! (My message # 20 on this blog. I also have written more than 20 messages on my other blog "Our Spaceship Earth"
http://colonizespace.blogspot.com )
July 19, 2006 by Goodspaceguy

* The Fleet of American Space Shuttles was and is a bad idea, a wasteful idea, an injury to the American tax payers, especially when space colonization should be the objective.

* Principle: Because it is so expensive to put material into orbit, whatever makes it into orbit, should stay in orbit.

* It cost a lot of tax payer money to put an American Space Shuttle into orbit. The payload of a launching rocket system pushing things up into orbital space should be considered to be whatever makes it into orbit. The Space Shuttle is therefore the payload and should stay in orbital space. It does not make sense to spend so much money to put Space Shuttles into orbit and then turn around and bring them down to Earth. We then have so little to show for the money spent. For the colonization of our solar system, we need many space crafts in orbit.

* For example, in orbit, the space shuttles could have been sold to the highest bidders. Some of the new owners might have used them for providing transportation between the Earth and the orbit of the Moon. Perhaps an owner, might even had tried going to the orbit of Mars and the moons of Mars.

* Other new owners of space shuttles in orbit might simply have used them as habitats from which to experiment with living and working in orbit.

* NASA's research should be concentrating on learning how people can live well and work well in orbital space. (I and some other people already have some good ideas in this area. Some people think NASA is brain dead.)

* It was wrong to bring our space shuttles and other material down from orbit. If we had joined the spacecrafts and and other items together with docking spheres and nets and connectors, we would already be a great space colonizing civilization with several spinning outposts in our solar system.

* Again (and this is important) each space shuttle launch could instead have been a launch of a space habitat. We would have so much more to show for the money we have already spent.

* If we had launched space habitats instead of space shuttles, we would be so much further ahead of where we are now. We would already have much experience with beginning orbital colonization around the Earth, around the Moon, and around the moons of Mars.

* In the 49 years of the Space Age that Nikita Khrushchev began when he led the backward Soviet Union in launching Sputnik in 1957, we have accomplished so little of our potential in space colonization. We have thrown away so, so many possible space habitats by abandonning our successful heavy lift rocket for the wasteful Space Shuttle. Our leaders simply did not and apparantly do not understand space colonization.

*Progress through knowledge, Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson, candidate US Senate

Require More NASA People to Work in Orbit

Require More NASA People to Work in Orbit (My message # 19. Those who don't want to transfer into the high frontier can be transferred into other government jobs that don't require the understanding gained by living in orbital space.

* The employees transferring up into the high frontier should be lifted up by the Russians unless cheaper flights to orbit become available. NASA should promote the competitive transportation to orbit industry to bring down the cost.

Robert Bigelow and Orbital Space Colonization

Robert Bigelow and Orbital Space Colonization (My message # 18. Bigelow might be an important leader in orbital space colonization! Robert sent an inflatable up into orbit aboard a Russian rocket. (The Russians are opening orbital space to people who can pay the ticket price. Good for the Russians ! Good for orbital space colonization !) (We need launch competitors. Competition should bring down the cost of getting into orbit.) Inflatable habitat components in the coming orbital space colonies might turn out to be really important components of the colonies. With Robert's help, we might make a lot of progress.

* Robert Bigelow, a Las Vegas real estate guy of "Budget Suites of America", has made a good gamble. He is risking a lot of money on perhaps making future homes and other things for humans in orbital space. Win or lose, he is doing the right thing for humanity. Thank God, he and people with his spirit were born.

* His inflatable "Genesis I" is orbiting more than 300 miles up in the sky. Robert and his company Bigelow Aerospace may send up more inflatables to be joined together for people to live in if the inflatables prove to be sufficiently durable. This might be how space colonies get started.

* Robert Bigelow and his company "Bigelow Aerospace" have serious plans for orbital space. I also put more than twenty messages on my other blog at http://colonizespace.blogspot.com )
July 14, 2006, by Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson

* The waste in the space programs by humans is huge! We could be building the orbiting space colonies now and we could have built some colonies in the past, but the people in charge and formerly in charge of the space programs, keep throwing the building blocks of the space colonies back down upon the Earth.

* At say, $10,000 per pound for NASA to put stuff into orbit, throwing stuff such as trash and space cargo ships back down onto the Earth is a huge waste.

* In the space colonies, it is important to push the technology of re-cycling to new heights. Trash and garbage are needed as the raw material of the advancing re-cycling technology. One of the leading technologies of the space colonies will be the technology of re-cycling everything.

*Unfortunately, cargo ships at the International Space Station, after they are unloaded, get stuffed with trash and garbage and are dropped back down upon the Earth. This is a hugh waste! The cargo ships could be used as additional rooms at the Internation Space Station or at privately owned space colonies, or the cargo ships could be used as cargo ships between the coming space colonies. The cargo ships could be grouped together. The destruction of spacecrafts and garbage shows a lack of concern for the tax payers and a lack of knowledge on the part of the people who have control of the space programs.

* Instead of destroying these cargo ships, it would be better to sell them to the highest bidders. These spacecraft could be used to slowly grow the space colonies. The garbage, the trash, the human waste could be stored in orbit in huge bags and in netting and in waste containers for future re-cycling in the privately owned orbiting green houses and privately owned orbiting aquariums of the space colonies and in the privately owned orbiting workshops and manufacturing conglomerations. Many cargo ships and containers can be joined together for this re-cycling work. The used equipment could be used for parts and their materials could easily be re-cycled, using the tremendous solar power that is available to the space colonists.

*When, say, two tons of trash and cargo ship is plunged back to Earth, the tax payers suffer a real loss. The loss to the tax payers might be 40 million dollars, which would have been the cost to put this re-cycling material into orbit (4,000 pounds times $10,000 per pound equals $40,000,000.00.)
* White collar vandalism by our leaders has occurred ! The tax payers have been hurt. Orbital space colonization has taken another step backwards. We need people in control who understand orbital space colonization! We don't need destruction caused by the lack of knowledge of orbital space colonization.
* What goes into space should stay in space.

Comments on the Route to Orbital Space Colonization

Comments on the Route to Orbital Space Colonization: (My message # 16. I have also put more than twenty messages on my other blog at http://colonizespace.blogspot.com )
by Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson, June 19, 2006
* October 1957: It is hard to believe, but (instead of the advanced United States) it was the backward Soviet Union, under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev, which began the space age by using the Soviet R-7 rocket to put Sputnik 1, a small human-made satellite that went beep, into orbit around the Earth. Thus the Soviet Union beat out the much more advanced United States, a sleeping giant, and started the Space Race. Some, but not all, of the people of Spaceship Earth were awakened by this amazing event. Humans now had the ability to put objects into space. It is amazing that the thinking of American leaders had not led to Americans leading civilization into the Space Age. Something apparantly was wrong with American leadership and is wrong with the thinking of Americans that caused them not to lead in the conquest of space.

*October 1958: The U.S. Congress approves the formation of the National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA),( a bureaucracy that would build boredom.)

* September 1959: The Soviet Union purposely crashed its Luna 2 space probe onto the surface of the Moon. (Another waste, but it proved that humans now had gained the ability to send things to the Moon.)

* October 1959: the out-of-balance Soviet Union, under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev, uses Luna 3, a space probe to take the first photos of the far side of the Moon, again beating out the technologically advanced United States. Thus, for the first time, humans saw images of the far side of our Moon. (Through the competition of the good Space Race, human knowledge was increasing, and by sending robotic things into space we humans got knowledge that humans could not get without the machines.)

* April 1960: Tiros, a weather satellite, is put into orbit around the Earth to begin observing weather on Spaceship Earth. (Robotic probes can increase human knowledge. The jobs of some space colonists might be to service and repair in orbit the weather satellites and other robotic spacecrafts.)

* April 1961: the economically crippled Soviet Union, under the leadership of Nikita Khrushchev, orbits Yurii Gagarin, the first man in orbital space. (Another tremendous achievement for the Soviet Union in the good Space Race with the United States (still trying to catch up.) With the first man in space, the Soviet Union demonstrated that humans in spacecrafts can survive in the vacuum of space for short periods of time.)

* May 1961: President John Kennedy makes the wonderful announcement that we will send a man to the Moon and bring him back safely before the end of 1960's. (Humans tend to like exciting missions that will increase their abilities and the frontiers of civilization and knowledge. The mission of the orbital space colonists, using the power of the competitive free market, will be to demonstrate that humans can build small, privately owned settlements in orbital space , some of which will grow into great, civilized, orbiting cities.)

* July 1962: Telstar I, a television satellite, is placed in space so that television broadcasts can be sent between Europe and the United States. (Progress is being made. Some of the orbital space colonists will be employed servicing and expanding the television and communication system in orbital space so that the people of our Spaceship Earth will come to think of themselves first as Earthlings and only secondarily as local nationalities, just as the people of the original 13 colonies gradually came to think of themselves as Americans first and as residents of their current state secondly.)

* December 1962: Mariner II, a space probe flys by Planet Venus. Now we know that humans can send things into space, can send things to the Moon, and can send things to Planet Venus. (More progress being made ! )

* June 1963: The backward Soviet Union sends the first woman, Valentina Tereshkova, into orbit. (Good news because space colonization can't really happen without women. In healthy, orbital space colonies, I recommend that the ratio of men and women should be about equal.)

* March 1965: A Soviet cosmonaut does the first space walk in orbital space. (Many space walks will be necessary in the building of the coming orbital space colonies. Cosmonaut Aleksei Leonov demonstrated that humans can live in a spacesuit in the vacuum of space.)

* April 1965: Early Bird, Intelsat I, becomes the first commercial communication satellite in orbit. It is put into a geosynchronous orbit about 22,000 miles (?) above Spaceship Earth so that it orbits the Earth at the same speed that the Earth turns. Thus Early Bird hovers above the same area of Spaceship Earth. (Much more free enterprise is needed in orbital space. After the governments establish the first competitive, free enterprise colonies with the purpose of learning how to live and thrive in the orbital space, competitive free enterprise with private ownership will become the main foundation of the coming and growing, orbital space colonies.)

* July 1965: Space probe Mariner IV takes close up photos of Mars, proving humans can send things to Mars, (another triumph. This means it will be possible to establish space stations with supplies and later space colonies in orbit around Mars, and it will be much cheaper to go to a space station that has supplies than to go to Mars and then go down to the surface of Mars. It will be good to establish space stations located so that it is easy and cheap to visit the two small moons of Mars, which have very weak gravity wells and are thus a good souce of building materials.)

* February 1966: Luna 9, a soviet Moon probe, bounces down unto the Moon and takes pictures of the lunar surface.

* March 1966: Neil Armstrong and Dave Scott dock two spacecraft in Earth orbit. (In the coming orbital space colonies much docking and re-arranging of the privately owned space habitats and privately owned spacecraft will be needed.)

* April 1966: The Soviet Union's space probe Luna 10 uses rocket braking to slow down enough to go into orbit around the Moon. (In the coming orbital space colonies, the space habitats and the space crafts will be able to use rocket power to alter their orbits and re-arrange the configuration of the individual space colonies.)

* September 1968: The Soviet Union's Zond 5 orbits the Moon.

* December 1968: Astronauts Bill Anders, Jim Lovell, and Frank Borman in Apollo 8 are the first humans to orbit the Moon. They orbit ten times. (The United States is improving in its space capabilities.)

* July 20, 1969: US Apollo 11 Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin are the first humans to step onto the Moon, while Michael Collins orbits overhead all alone in Moon orbit. (A huge triumph for the technologIcally advanced United States. We Americans are beginning to have abilities in space..)

* December 1970: The Soviet Union lands its probe Venera 7 by parachute onto the surface of hot, hot Planet Venus. (Using Sunshine reflectors and other shielding and cooling devices, it should be possible to put a spacestation in orbit around Venus, where there is a huge abundance of orbital solar power.)

* April 1971: The Soviet Union put spacecraft Salyut 1 into orbit around our Planet Earth. ( A poor translation that is easy to remember could be "firework salute 1.) Spacecraft Salyut 1 orbited our Planet Earth for about half a year.

* October 1971: Because of the Soviet failure to boost Spacecraft Salyut 1 to a higher orbit, Spacecraft Salyut 1 fell back to Earth. ( his type of destruction is common and is bad for the advancement of orbital colonization. It is expensive to transfer stuff from Earth to space. To advance the colonization of space, we humans need spacecraft and stuff and garbage kept in orbit for re-cycling and re-use.)

* May 1973: The United States used its last heavy lift Saturn V Rocket to launch Skylab, its first marvelous and roomy work shop space station into low Earth orbit, (but later American high-ranking vandals would ignorantly destroy it in July 1979. Also it is sad that American leaders decided to shut down our successful Saturn V heavy lift rocket which could advanced us rapidily as Spaceship Earth's leading nation in the colonization of our solar system. Because of this error, we still in 2006 haven't started the orbital space colonization that we could have started back in the Twentieth Century. We were successful in going to the Moon, and then we had a failure in American leadership that lead the American space program into great waste and sleep.) Skylab orbited our Planet Earth roughly about every hour and a half at a low orbital altitude of roughly about 430 kilometers ( or roughly about 260 miles.)

* December 1973: The United States' space probe Pioneer 10 enters the Jovian mini solar system and takes photos of Planet Jupiter and some of its moons. (It would be good to add orbital space colonies to Jupiter's system of moons. If we had kept our Saturn V heavy lift rockets, seeding our solar system with space stations and then colonies wouldn't be so difficult. Without heavy lift rockets, space colonization is more difficult.)

* February 1974: Unhappily for orbital space colonization, space station workshop Skylab was shut down, but happily it was left in low Earth orbit. Skylab's orbit had been roughly about 430 kilometers (roughly 260 miles) above the surface of the Earth, but because of drag from the slight presence of atmospheric air molecules, the altitude of Skylab would decrease slowly over time. Unhappily, the plans to put a propulsion unit on Skylab and boost it to higher orbit was not done by the foolish American leaders.

* June 1974: The Soviet Union put spacecraft Salyut 3 into orbit around our Planet Earth. It was in orbit for about 7 months.

* December 1974: The Soviet Union put spacecraft Salyut 4 into orbit around our Planet Earth. Salyut 4 orbited our Planet Earth for about 2 years and 1 month.

* January 1975: Spacecraft Salyut 3 instead of being boosted to a higher orbit falls back to Earth. (Waste is common in governmental programs.)

* July 1975: In Earth orbit, the American Apollo spacecraft links up with the Soviet Union's Soyuz spacecraft. (Oh, can we ever make the Klingons our friends ?)

* October 1975: From its Venera 9 space probe, the Soviet Union sends television pictures from the surface of hot, hot Venus. (A television and film industry will probably grow up in the orbiting space cities of the fantastic future.)

* June 1976: The Soviet Union put spacecraft Salyut 5 into orbit. Salyut 5 orbited our Spaceship Earth for more than one year and a month.

* July 1976: Viking 1, a probe from the United States, sends photos from the surface of Mars. (We can send things to Mars and receive communications back. It would even be possible to put a spinning space station into orbit around Mars from which a colony could grow. Orbiting a planet is easier than landing on a planet.)

* February 1977: Spacecraft Salyut 4 fell back to Earth. (Waste is common in governmental programs.)

* August 1977: Spacecraft Salyut 5 is destroyed. (Waste is common in governmental programs.)

* September 1977: The Soviet Union put spacecraft Salyut 6 into orbit. Salyut 6 orbited our Spaceship Earth for almost five years.

* July 1979: American high-ranking vandals ignorantly destroyed the marvelous space station workshop Skylab by crashing Skylab into an area of the Indian Ocean and Australia. Instead of being vandals, they could have boosted Skylab into higher orbit and then sold it to the highest bidder. (But they chose to destroy Skylab ! Oh, unhappy time for orbital space colonization.)

* September 1979: Pioneer 11, a space probe from the United States, reaches the mini-solar system of the gas giant Saturn and sends back photos of Saturn and its rings. (If we had kept our Saturn V heavy lift rockets, we could have put a spacestation in orbit around Saturn.)

* July 1982: Soviet Spacecraft Salyut 6 is destroyed. (Waste is common in governmental programs.)

* April 1982: The Soviet Union put spacecraft Salyut 7 into orbit. Salyut 7 orbited our Spaceship Earth for almost nine years.

* April 1984: Astronauts James van Hoften and George Nelson make a repair of an orbiting satellite. (There should be a lot of repair work in orbital space for the coming orbital space colonists.)

* January 1986: After a slow eight year trip in space, the space probe Voyager 2 reaches the large Planet Uranus and takes pictures of the planet and some of its moons. (This proves that we can send things to the planets of our outer solar system. In the future we can send the building blocks of orbiting space colonies to our outer planets. We could already have done so if we had not discontinued our heavy lift rockets.)

* February 1986: The troubled Soviet Union does a good thing and sends a spacecraft up out of the Earths gravity well to form the core of humanities new space station known as Mir, which word "Mir" has several meanings in English, two of which are "peace" and "world." Over the years, the Soviets would gradually send up more spacecraft to be joined to humanities' growing Mir Space Station. The Soviets used their Proton Rocket to launch one-at-a-time many of the spacecrafts that would become part of this slowly growing space station. The Mir Space Station would take about an hour and a half to orbit our Planet Earth at an altitude of about 390 kilometers (or roughly about 240 miles.) Later, this important spacestation would be destroyed in March 2001 by high ranking Russian vandals.

* March 1986: The Soviet Union sends its space probe Vega 1 to Comet Halley. (In the future, space colonists will go to comets and mine them for water and other raw materials.)

* May 1986: Two cosmonauts make transfers between the two small spacestations: Mir and Salyut 7. (Think of these two small space stations as several habitats in large, future, orbiting space cities where many transfers will be normal.)

* February 1991: Spacecraft Salyut 7 fell back to Earth. (Waste is common in governmental programs.)

* 1991: The out-of-balanced and troubled Soviet Union collapses. (With a gradual turn toward competitive, free market capitalism and local democracy the former Soviet peoples should become better able to achieve their higher potential, but the transitions turn out to be very slow and troubled. The Russians and former Soviet space facilities may have a comparative advantage in offering to launch spacecraft and habitats into orbital space for the coming space colonies of all the nations of our Spaceship Earth?)

* 1998: The construction of the International Space Station begins. Now the human race has two orbiting space stations: Space Station Mir and the International Space Station. (This is a step forward for the starting of orbital space colonization.)

* March 2001: The fabulous Space Station Mir is stupidly destroyed by Russian high-ranking vandals. (Instead of boosting the Mir Space Station to higher orbit or selling it to the highest bidder, Russian high-ranking vandals instead plunged this historic space station into the South Pacific Ocean. This destruction is a big set-back for orbital space colonization. With destructive vandals in positions of authority, it is indeed difficult to get the human race off its Spaceship Earth and into the coming space colonies. The destruction of Space Station Mir leaves the human race with only one measly International Space Station.)

Success Can Take Longer Than Expected

Success Can Take Longer Than Expected (My message # 15. I have also put more than twenty messages on my other blog at http://colonizespace.blogspot.com )
Saturday, June 17, 2006 by Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson

* The colonization of our solar system has been one of my advocacies, starting when I was inspired by a classmate back in the sixth grade in Havre de Grace, Maryland. We would go to the school library and check out and read the various books on Astronomy, and we would make drawings of spaceships, planets, moons, and so forth.

* Because of my extensive reading about astronomy and related subjects starting in the sixth grade, I soon noticed that I knew more about our universe, our Milky Way Galaxy, and our solar system than most of the adults around me. Apparently, most of the adults around me had not been studying the universe they lived in.

* Because of the knowledge I gained from the astronomy and related books, I predicted in 8th grade in 1954 that we would land on the Moon in about ten years. My 8th grade teacher didn't believe me. She hadn't been reading the same material I had read. But I was overly optimistic. I thought ten years would be a reasonable amount of time to land a person upon the Moon, but it took about fifteen years instead, We humans succeeded in July 1969.

* The predicted achievement of landing on the Moon that I and various writers and others knew could happen was helped along by the backward Soviet Unions launching of Sputnik in 1957 under Nikita Khrushchev and then President Kennedy's and President Johnson's rising to the Soviet's space achievement challenge.

* Competition with the Soviet Union pushed the United States upward to do that which some of us knew that the United States could do if the will power was found. The Soviet Union helped the United States to get the will power to achieve in space, as some of us knew the United States could achieve.

* After the United States sent men to the Moon several times, using the tremendous power of the Saturn 5 Rocket, the United States seemed to quit. It was as if the leaders of the United States did not have knowledge of what we have the ability to do in space. They did not know that it was now time to begin the colonization of space. They did not know that it was best to start with orbital space colonization.

* The leaders of the United States abandoned our successful Saturn V Rocket and replaced it with the faulty concept of the Space Shuttle. What a huge mistake !

* Our space progress has probably been so poor and so slow because the leaders of the United States do not understand orbital space colonization, and they don't seem to understand why the space shuttle was such a bad idea.

* Now it is 2006. It is about 49 years since the backward Soviet Union started the Space Age in 1957 by orbiting Sputnik, and after these 49 years we still only have a finger-tip hold in space with our faulty but important International Space Station. The faulty design of the International Space Station is further evidence that the leaders of the United States do not understand space colonization.

* We should already have many successful orbiting space colonies, but the leaders of the United States and the leaders of the other nations on our Spaceship Earth don't have the necessary knowledge of orbital space colonization. They don't know that we have the ability to colonize our solar system. The colonization of our solar system will be the big achievement of the 21st Century.

* We Earthlings will build a space faring civilization into the fantastic future within this 21st Century. I am predicting great, orbiting cities that will grow from small orbiting settlements.

* Who will be the new national leaders in the conquest of space, like Nikita Khrushchev of the backward former Soviet Union and like President Kennedy of the United States ?

* Our beginning colonies in orbital space should already exist, but they do not. Our success in space is taking longer than expected by us who know that we can build the orbiting space colonies. Therefore it still remains the fantastic future for the people of our Spaceship Earth.
* I predict that by starting small, the great orbiting cities of our solar system will be a great achievement of the people of this new 21st Century.
* The great, orbiting, human civilization is our destiny in the 21st Century.

US Competitive Free Market Orbital Colonization Act

US Competitive Free Market Orbital Colonization Act (My message # 14. This give-away will jump start the United States into the colonization of the high frontier of orbital space, starting with growing, orbital space settlements around our Earth and around our Moon.
* In orbital space colonization, the United States should lead the human family of our Spaceship Earth to its destiny of colonizing our solar system in this Twenty-first Century. We should promote the spirit of peace. We Americans come from all the nations of the Earth. We Americans are the Earth united.
* Such a modern homesteading act should leap-frog the people of the United States into the coming fantasic future of the "High Orbiting Civilization." We will show how it can be done successfully and peacefully. This will be a great education for us.
* We. the people of the United States, would learn by pushing up our knowledge of technology and democracy.
* Some of our goals as freedom leaders on our Spaceship Earth should be the goals of uniting the peoples of our Spaceship Earth in peace, progress, knowledge, and prosperity.

NASA, Start Free Enterprise in Orbital Space

NASA, Please Start Free Enterprise in Orbital Space! We should expect an increase in the speed of progress.
* The dictatorial government of the collapsed Soviet Union discovered that privately owned farming can produce more food than government owned farming.
* The principle of private ownership in the spinning, orbiting American space settlements should also lead to much more success than NASA has experienced without private ownership.
* Likewise, privately owned space habitats can lead to better research into how to live and prosper in orbital space, than can governmental controlled research.
* Perhaps a movie studio might want to purchase a space habitat in a spinning, orbiting space settlement if NASA gives them a good price. One or more movie studios could make documentaries on whatever space adventures might arise.
* Perhaps an agricultural company could buy a space habitat from NASA and do research in growing greenhouses in the coming spinning, orbital space colonies.
* Perhaps individuals could purchase space habitats from NASA at affordable prices so that they can do research into how to survive in orbital space.
* Perhaps ...
* Owners of space habitats have greater motivation to learn how to live and prosper in the orbital space colonies than government employees have.

Orbital Space Colonization Needs Women

Orbital Space Colonization Needs Women
Friday, June 9, 2006 by Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson (This is my message # 12. Start simple. Save trash. Save garbage. Save human waste.
* Start near the International Space Station and other locations desired by the space colonists.
* Start recycling. Save everything.
* Privatize the small human containers in space and start building small green houses and small aquariums around them. Connect the containers and slowly spin the assemblage to simulate different levels of gravity.
* Stop destroying. Stop throwing back down onto our Spaceship Earth that which cost us so much money to put into orbital space.
* Experiment with the building of warehouses and netting and ballons for the storage of junk and waste and trash in orbital space.
* Experiment with the building of large air and water containing structures in orbital space around the smaller experimental and privatized orbital dwellings.
* Build outer structures around the inner structures.
* Then build additional outer structures around the first outer structures, putting the greatest pressure levels inside the inner structures.
* Our National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the other space agencies should immediately start switching their funding towards actual orbital research into how to live and prosper in orbital space.
* The best bang for the research dollar is to be obtained by actually doing the research in orbit. The research and training on the ground of Earth is so wasteful.
* It is time to get serious about advancing the technology of recycling everything.
* We should have started orbital space colonization right after our successful trips to the Moon under the leadership of President Kennedy and President Johnson.
* To advance the technology of recycling, begin small by building privately owned green houses, privately owned aquariums, privately owned warehouses, and privately owned junk yards near the International Space Station and other locations desired by the colonists, such as above the equator.
* The International Space Station would be one of the good places to begin and advance the colonization of orbital space because this space station produces a lot of waste that can be used in advancing the technology of recycling.
* We humans need to have places to live other than just on our Spaceship Earth. Earth might suffer from nuclear war or from a large and destructive asteroid impact. We would be wise to spread out throughout our solar system now that some of our people know how.
* Huge green houses and huge aquariums in the spinning, orbiting space settlements will make the space settlements so much nicer.

Who Will Be the First to... I have also put more than twenty messages on my other blog at http://colonizespace.blogspot.com )

* The National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) spends more than a billion dollars per month. It's 2006 budget is about $16. 4 billion. This money could be used much more effectively for research on how to live well and build well in orbital space for the upward advancement of our human civilization.
* NASA should redirect it money and spend it on the building of the coming orbital space colonies.
* Most portions of the spinning, orbiting space settlements should be immediately privatized by NASA after construction. This would create an additional cash inflow to NASA to finance the in-space site construction of even more orbiting space habitat moduless, which in turn should also be privatized by NASA so that many people, corporations, and institutions can own and develop the orbiting space colonies. I'm talking about rapid development.
* Our strength is that the United States is a competitive, free market country.
* We and NASA should play to this strength and open our Solar System to the power of economic, competitive, free market capitalism. We who understand the principles of economics and the principles of orbital space colonization should lead the way.
* Right now, known, intelligent life in our Milky Way Galaxy is confined to a small ball in space that I call Spaceship Earth and others call our planet Earth. We need to rapidly spread intelligent life out into our solar system before something bad stops us.
* Under capitalism, individuals should become owners of some of the habitats in the orbiting space colonies.
* Colleges and universities should become owners of some of the habitats in the orbiting space colonies.
Many individual owners in the orbiting space colonies will make more scientific progress than NASA can make alone. We need NASA to build a partnership between itself and competitive, free market capitalism in order to rocket intelligent human life throughout our solar system.
* Building various small but growing, spinning, orbiting space colonies is one of the most effective things we can do right now to advance technology and to insure the survival of the human race from such dangers as possible nuclear war on Earth and the coming next impact on Earth of a large killer asteroid.
* The Earth grew and grew as stuff from space fell down upon it. Small stuff is still falling. Some day another large object will fall toward the Earth from space and could cause much destruction if the people in the orbiting space colonies are not ready to rescue the Earth.
* Instead of allowing these incoming asteroids and comets and meteroids to smash into the Earth, the orbital space colonists could instead cut them up, mine them, and use their materials to grow the orbiting colonies.
* Think, study, and colonize orbital space, Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson

The Far Side of the Moon

The Far Side of the Moon
(This is my message # 7. The Solar System will have many orbiting colonies. The future is going to be fantastic!
* The Earth is suffering from a population explosion, but orbital space is huge. I recommended to Vice President Bush that we put space stations in orbit around the Earth, also around our Moon, and also around the Planet Mars.

* Like Martin Luther King, I also have a dream. My dream is for our human civilization to advance into our solar system by beginning with the building of small and orbiting and expandable and turning space stations. These space stations might function as supply bases, rescue bases, repair bases, research bases, agricultural bases, manufacturing bases, recycling bases and also as staging bases from which private companies and individuals in our free enterprise system can begin to access the large amount of mining material already in space. I want us to make it possible for companies and individuals to add on privately owned additions to the governmental, rotating space stations. It is important to make these space stations expandable with huge amounts of water for use by humans and for use as shielding from radiation.

* In these growing, rotating space stations, we humans can learn more cheaply how to live and work in space. Currently, much of NASA's space dollars are being wasted on silly projects.

* So far, I am not aware of anything having come out of my recommendations to the first President Bush. Some people may think that orbital space colonization is a lunatic idea. Not everyone can see the amazing future which is merely an extention of going from the horse-and-buggy age to the beginnings of the Soviet Union's Sputnik triggered Space Age in fifty-seven years (1900-1957.) The Space Age began in the Twentieth Century. Our technological advancement is continuing rapidly. We should make the Twenty-first Century into the century of the Colonization of Our Solar System. The Solar System and its abundant resources are waiting for us.
* "Live long and prosper," (Star Trek) Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson

Has the US Government Kept Private Ownership Out of Orbital Space?

Thursday, April 20, 2006
by Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson
Has our US Government kept some possible private ownership out of orbital space?

* The perception of some is "Yes," even though we do have some corporate owned orbiting satellites. (For example, we do have corporation owned communication satellites.) However, we could have much more private ownership in orbital space than we do have. Opportunities have been missed. There has been much waste. Many items in orbit have been destroyed by the government, when the government could have sold these orbiting objects to corporations or individuals.
* I would like to see more private ownership in orbital space. I want government to cease its destruction of orbiting items.
* Our government has wasted objects in orbital space by plunging them back to Earth to destruction!
I wanted these objects boosted to higher orbit and privatized by sale to the highest bidder.
* I wanted the historic U.S. Sky Lab Space Station boosted to a higher orbit and sold to the highest bidder. After spending so much tax payer money to put it into orbit around the Earth, it was wrong of the government to allow Sky Lab's orbit to decay until our Sky Lab Space Station fell back to Earth to destruction.
* I wanted the historic Russian Mir Space Station boosted to higher orbit and sold to the highest bidder.
* I wanted garbage and waste and supply vessels boosted to higher orbits and sold to the highest bidder.
* The per pound cost of putting something into orbit is high and therefore that which has been put into orbit has value and should be kept in orbit. Even garbage is valuable and will have a future use as we develop the technology of recyling in the orbiting space colonies.
* Sincerely, Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson

1957: Sputnik, the First Orbiting Satellite Begins the Space Age

* We should honor the Russian people and the people of the former Soviet Union for being the first people to orbit a human made object around the Earth. This was an amazing accomplishment for the human race in the 20th century which began as a horse and buggy age. This means that humans went from the horse and buggy age to the beginnings of the space age in about only 6/10ths of a century.
Our next great accomplishment should be to start the orbital colonies.
Our technological abilities continue to race forward, and our solar system is waiting for the life that we can give it. Building orbiting colonies can be the easy and less expensive next step.
We should at first put these colonies in orbit around the Earth and around the Moon and then around Mars.

Colonize Orbital Space

Colonize Orbital Space April 4, 2006
by Michael Goodspaceguy Nelson,

*For a long time, I have been saying that instead of colonizing moons or planets, we can get more for our space research money by first colonizing the orbital space around the Earth, colonizing the orbital space around the Moon, colonizing the orbital space around the Sun, and colonizing the orbital space around Mars. Space research is better done in orbital space than on Earth. In orbital space, the research on how to colonize orbital space becomes more real in that there is an immediate need to succeed. Research done in orbital space on how to live well in orbital space has quicker benefits.
*This is a subject I have studied, and so I know we can do it. I am sure that there are others who also know that we can do it.
*I want the United States Government and NASA to be at the core of this colonization, but I want private enterprise to grow up around the governmental core. It would be good if the private ownership, profit making sector of the orbiting colonies might grow to be ninety percent of each orbiting colony and that the government of these U.S. orbiting territories become local, democratic governments.
